  • How to Sterilize A MicroPipette

    21/07/2024
Why We Need to Sterilize A MicroPipette Although pipettes are small, as a common laboratory instrument, they play a crucial role in the accuracy and precision of our experimental results. Therefore, to improve our experimental outcomes, this article will discuss the disinfection and sterilization of pipettes. For pipettes, the concepts of disinfection and sterilization are often confused. In fact, there is a clear difference between the two: disinfection merely requires controlling the viable bacteria on the pipette within a certain range to achieve a harmless level; sterilization, on the other hand, is more stringent and requires the elimination of all…

  • How To Remove Bacteria in Biological Samples?——Escherichia Coli Solution Filtration

    28/05/2024
Why is a syringe filter used in cell culture? The syringe filter typically features micropores that effectively block the passage of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms, ensuring the sterility of the culturing process. This helps maintain the purity of cell culture and prevents potential contamination from affecting experimental results. In the process of cell culture, all operations require sterility. Common solutions such as PBS and ultrapure water can be sterilized by high-pressure sterilization, while there are some drugs or other reagents are temperature-sensitive. In this situation, syringe filter is a convenient and rapid method to remove bacteria. In this experiment,…

  • How to Perform Quality Control on a Syringe Filter?Bubble Point Testing

    04/06/2026
The microporous membrane filtration method, as an important means of sterilization and particle removal, has been widely used in pharmaceuticals, particle detection, and sample processing. Syringe filter, as one of the most common laboratory consumables, in addition to undergo dissolution testing and chemical compatibility testing, integrity testing should also be performed when performing  Quality Control on a Syringe FilterThe integrity of the laboratory syringe filter is a crucial indicator in filtration products. Whether a filtration system can maintain its integrity before and after filtration is an important parameter for assessing the quality of a filtration product. For filtration processes, especially sterilizing-grade filtration, integrity testing is a…

  • An Experiment to Help You Understand Filtration Efficiency!

    01/06/2024
Filtration Efficiency Filtration Efficiency  is usually stated in terms of the percentage of particles of a certain size that would be stopped and retained by a filter medium. What Is The Filtration Retention of A Laboratory Syringe Filter? The retention rate is an important parameter for the Laboratory Syringe Filter. When using a filter for filtration, undesired components are often captured by the filter. The retention rate represents the ability of the membrane to either prevent certain components from passing through or retain a specific component in the liquid. Due to different calculation formulas, various numerical values can be obtained. The…
  • How to Use A Syringe Filter – Most Easy Guide-4 Steps to Use A Syringe Filter

    21/07/2024
How to Use A Syringe Filter? Step 1 Before filling with sample, draw approximately 1 mL of air into the syringe. This will minimize fluid retention. Step 2 Draw your sample into the syringe, then draw in about mL of air. Invert the syringe and wipe residue off tip. Step 3 Connect the syringe to the syringe filter using a interconnection. Twist gently tonsure a secure seal. Step 4 Filter syringe contents into a vial.Afterwards, remove the syringe filter, draw air into the syringe,re-attach the syringe filter, and press the plunger to filter the residual sample. This maximize sample recovery.
  • 0.22μm Syringe Filter VS. 0.45 μm Syringe Filter: How To Make A Choice

    21/07/2024
0.22μm Syringe Filter: With Sterilizing-grade Membrane Inside With a higher filtration precision, it can filter out microorganisms, cells, etc., with a diameter larger than 0.22 micrometers. It is generally used to remove extremely fine particles in samples or mobile phases, meeting the requirements of sterilization at 99.99% according to GMP or pharmacopeia standards. Therefore, it is called a sterile filtration membrane and is commonly used in the pharmaceutical, medical, and food industries. Compared to membranes with larger pore sizes, the 0.22μm membrane has higher resistance during filtration, requiring higher pressure to allow the liquid to pass through the membrane pores.…
  • Hydrophobic PTFE Syringe Filter Vs Hydrophilic PTFE Syringe Filter: What Is the Difference

    21/07/2024
What Is PTFE Syringe Filter/Teflon Syringe Filter Polytetrafluoroethylene, abbreviated as PTFE is a polymer synthesized by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene monomers. • What Is The Dead Volume of A Syringe Filter

    28/05/2024
The dead volume reflects the extent of volume loss in a sample. During sample filtration, some residual sample is inevitably left inside the filter or filter membrane, affecting the final sample recovery rate. The smaller the dead volume, the less the loss, and the higher the recovery rate. The dead volume refers to the portion of volume that cannot be recovered
